BREAKFAST AT THE PARQUE Central was an elaborate self-service buffet affair, and Gibson was starving after his nocturnal adventures the previous night. Having located and spoken to BoBo, he had no reason to stay in Havana longer than necessary. How different it would have been if Jill was with me he thought. Back in his room he had a long phone call with the airline, trying to change his ticket to fly back to Nassau later that same day. After spinning them a tale about how he needed to get back, as he had a domestic emergency in his home in The Bahamas. They reluctantly agreed to let him transfer to an earlier flight, so he began to pack his small case.

He phoned down to reception and asked them to arrange a cab to take him to the airport. They said they’d call his room when the cab arrived. He thanked them and sat down on the bed, taking stock of the results of his visit. He felt a little deflated, having located BoBo, which had been no mean feat, he thought. Only to find she couldn’t help in his search for Bobbie Joe, or provide any real clue as to whether he might be still alive, or not. He wasn’t looking forward to reporting back to Mrs Kisling.
